If you have a picture or painting that is around 16 by 20 inches, make it into a side table. Make sure you have the top covered in glass or Plexiglas, and you have an instant side table. 30. Create a shelf out of art. Take a piece of art or a special photo and get a flat frame to put it in. Nail a little piece of wood that is the same width as the frame and a couple of inches deep to the bottom. Paint it the same color as the frame, hang the photo on your wall, and you are ready to accessorize with a little bud vase, miniature collectables, or even spices in the kitchen.

The best value on these frames is when Michaels puts them on sale (make sure you check their overstock because the shelves are almost always empty). The second best value is to go to the Adorama site and order them directly. They charge $.09 more per frame, but if you buy them with another item, the shipping is much cheaper. For example, today I ordered a pantone huey (screen calibrator) and a visible dust arctic butterfly. The shipping for both items (UPS ground) was 11.51. I added 12 of these frames at 1.99, and the shipping only increased to 13.95.
